Description for the Basic Listing Information Section

The Basic Listing Information section of the eBay Listing Template contains general settings about your listing, such as category, listing duration, and ship from information.

Many of the fields in the Basic Listing Information section, like the Buy It Now price, can be left blank. They will be populated when you list items. You can also overwrite any field in an eBay Listing Template as you list items through the user interface, and most fields can be overwritten through Excel.

Field Descriptions of the Basic Listing Information Section

Field Names
Field Descriptions and Valid Values
Ebay Local

Choose from the locations in the drop-down menu.

If you list to eBay Motors, select eBay Motors in the drop-down.

English or Metric Select the correct measurement system.
Title

Leave this field blank. You can enter an eBay Title for your item that is different than your Product Name in Solid Commerce through the user interface or a spreadsheet.

If you don't provide a specific eBay Title, we will submit the Solid Commerce Product Name instead.
Sub-Title Leave this field blank. eBay charges a fee for adding a sub-title to your listing. If you want to add one, you can do it as you list items through Excel or the user interface.
Ship From Country Select the country orders will be shipped from.
Currency The Currency will automatically update depending on the Ebay Local you have selected.
MSRP

Leave this field blank.

If you provide an eBay MSRP, we will submit it when we push your listing. If you don't provide a specific eBay MSRP, we will submit the value you saved in your product's MSRP field.

Buy It Now\Fixed Price, Bid Start, or Reserve Leave the pricing fields blank. You can provide prices as you list your items.
Category 1

This is a required field. Providing a category allows us to automatically import Item Specific options and product conditions from eBay.

eBay only allows you to list to leaf categories, so select an end category with no sub-categories beneath it.

The category in your template can be overwritten as you list items through Excel or the user interface. That allows you to use one template to list to multiple categories.

Select a category that is representative of the products you want to list with your template. That way appropriate Item Specifics and conditions will import from eBay.

Category 2

eBay charges a fee for adding a second category to listings. eBay only allows you to list to leaf categories.

If you want to batches of items to the same second category, enter the it in this field. Otherwise leave this field blank. You can provide a second category as you list items through Excel or the user interface.

Store Category 1

This optional field only applies if you opt to add an eBay Store to your eBay seller account.

If you are going to list batches of items to the same eBay Store Category, you can add it to your eBay Listing Template. If you are going to list across many categories in your eBay store, leave this field blank. You can provide the eBay Store Category when you list items. Listing in up to two store categories is free.

To populate the Store Category 1 field, enter the number eBay assigned your store category when you created it. Don't enter the category name. To learn how to find your eBay Store Categories, see Finding eBay Store Category Numbers.

Store Category 2 This is an optional field. If you are going to list many items to the same second eBay Store Category, you can add it to your eBay Listing Template. If you are going to list across many categories in your eBay store, leave this field blank. You can provide the second eBay Store Category when you list items. There is no fee for listing to your eBay Store Categories.
Handling Time Enter the length of time it takes before an order is shipped to your buyer.
eBay Pre-Fill Type

The Pre-Fills in Solid Commerce control the Item Specifics on eBay. For more information on selecting an eBay Pre-Fill Type, see Adding eBay Item Specifics to Listings Using Pre-Fill Settings or the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN).

Use MPN

This setting is primarily used by eBay Motors sellers. To view this checkbox, you first need to select Pre-Fill Optional or Pre-Fill Required from the eBay Pre-Fill Type drop-down menu.

If you have a UPC, Ebay PID, or ISBN for your items, you don't need to enable the Use MPN feature. So long as you have selected Pre-Fill Optional or Pre-Fill Required, we will automatically search eBay's catalog.

Enabling the Use MPN feature will prompt us to search eBay's catalog for the Manufacturer and Model Number of your item. If we find a matching product in the catalog, we will automatically add the catalog data to your listing, including fitment information. For more info, see Adding eBay Item Specifics to Listings Using Pre-Fill Settings or the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN).

Ship From Zip Code

If you offer Calculated or Freight Shipping on your listings, you need to provide a Ship From Zip Code.

If you offer Flat Rate or Free Shipping instead of Calculated Shipping, you have the option of providing a Ship From Zip Code or a Ship From Location. You don't need to populate both fields, only one or the other.

NOTE on FBA:

If you are listing Fulfillment by Amazon items on eBay, and you want to offer Calculated shipping, you should enter the zip code of the Amazon fulfillment center you shipped your products to. If you are listing FBA items, but want to offer Flat Rate or Free Shipping instead of Calculated shipping, you can enter a Ship From Location instead of a zip code. The Ship From Location field is free form, so you can enter something like: "various locations in the U.S.," "West Coast," "California," etc. For more information about having Amazon fulfill your eBay orders, see Listing FBA Items on Marketplaces Other Than Amazon.

Ship From Location

If you do not provide a Ship From Zip Code, you must provide a Ship From Location. This is a free-form field. You can enter any value you like.

If you provide a Ship From Zip Code, you do not need to populate this field.

Listing Qty Expression

If all of your items will use the same Listing Quantity Expression, like lq, you can enter it in your template. That way you do not need to provide the Listing Qty Exp when you list items. Otherwise, you can leave this field blank and provide a Listing Qty Exp through Excel or the user interface.

For more information about the Listing Qty Expression, please see Using the Listing Quantity Expression to Control the Quantities on Your Listings.

Out Of Stock Control

The eBay Out of Stock Control feature allows you to keep your Fixed-Price Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) listings open even after you run out of inventory. For more information about the Out of Stock Control, see Using eBay's Out of Stock Control Feature.

You must enable the out-of-stock setting in your eBay seller account before you can use this feature through Solid Commerce. Once it is enabled on eBay, checking the Out Of Stock Control box in your eBay Listing Template will allow you to use it on any listings you apply the template to.

Variation Group

If you are not listing variations, leave this field set to None.

If you are going to list batches of items with the same eBay Variation Group, you can select it from the drop-down menu. If you have several eBay Variation Groups, you can leave this field set to None. You can provide the eBay Variation Group names when you list products.

For more information about listing variations, see the Setting up Solid Commerce to List Variations on eBay (Variation Groups and Listing Templates).

Parent SKU Leave this field blank. You will provide a Parent SKU for your variation-style listings when you list your items.
Part Fitment Group

This field is only for eBay Motors sellers.

If you have batches of products which fit the same exact vehicles, you can create a fitment template, and select it from this drop-down. You can also leave this field blank and either assign fitment templates on a listing-by-listing basis, or create a unique fitment for each product.

Bid Length (Days) The duration of your listing. Almost all sellers launching Fixed Price listings select GTC (Good 'Til Cancelled) as the Bid Length.
Condition Select a product condition from the drop-down menu. You can use the same template to list products with different conditions by providing the condition through Excel or the user interface as you list items.
Condition Description

If your product is not in new condition, you should provide details about any wear and tear or damage on an item-by-item basis. You can populate this field through the eBay Listing Details in the UI or through the ebay condition description field in Excel.

Unless you have a generic description that applies to all of your non-new items, you do not need to populate this field in your eBay Listing Template.

Listing Type Choose Fixed Price or Auction.
Restocking Fee Code Choose how much you want to charge buyers for restocking items they return.
Shipping Profile ID

eBay allows some sellers to create shipping policies directly in their eBay seller manager account. The benefit of using eBay's business policies for shipping, returns, and payments is that policy revisions you make in your eBay seller account are automatically updated onto your listings.

To use a shipping profile on your listings, enter its policy ID number from eBay in this field. If you use an eBay policy, you do not need to fill out the Domestic Shipping Options, International Shipping Options, or Package Information sections of the eBay Listing Template.

For more information about using eBay business policies, see Using eBay's Business Policies Through Solid Commerce (Shipping, Payment, and Return Profiles).
