Creating New Listings on Shopify Using a Spreadsheet

This article will show you how to use a spreadsheet to create new listings in your Shopify webstore.

Before you list products, you need to connect to Shopify, create a Market List, and create a My Store Pricing Rule. See the Related Articles section for more information on these topics.

Adding Products to Inventory Before You List to Shopify

This article assumes you already created your products in Solid Commerce and added them to inventory.

Key Fields for Listing Products

Required Fields	Field Descriptions and Valid Values
results	Leave this field blank. When you upload a file using the Solid Commerce Excel Add-In Tool, results will appear as the file processes.
product custom sku	The SKUs of your products.
warehouse id	The Warehouse IDs of your products.
product attribute:shopify inventory_management	Set shopify inventory_management to shopify   NOTE: If adding for the first time in Channels Manager, just add shopify inventory_management to the attributes. Do not add prefix "product attribute: "
mystore sell price exp	Controls the price of your item on your Shopify listing. Enter a number without a currency symbol, or enter simple formulas with the word cost, such as cost*1.5 or cost+7. More complex formulas like cost*1.2+5 or ((cost*1.2)+5) work as well.
market auto rule	Determines how we should set prices on new listings, or update prices on existing listings. Enter the name of the rule you want to use.
mystore qty exp	Enter lq in this field if you want to make your entire inventory available on Shopify. You can also enter formulas. See Using the Listing Quantity Expression to Control the Quantities on Your Listings for details.
list name	The name of your My Store Market List in Solid Commerce.
po sources	The name of the Warehouse(s) Solid Commerce should use as the inventory source for your listings.
run mystore	Enter Yes to turn the automation on. We will automatically push your data to Shopify to list your product. If you enter No, your product will not list until you turn the automation on.

 

The following table includes two optional fields.

Key Optional Fields	Field Descriptions
product name	Copying your Product Names and pasting them into the Shopify tab of your spreadsheet is not required. However, the names can be handy as reference.
mystore title	If you want the title on your Shopify listing to be different than the Product Name in Solid Commerce, enter your unique titles into this field.

 

Creating Variation Listings

This section assumes you are familiar with listing variations directly on Shopify. If not, we recommend creating some variation listings in your webstore before pushing them from Solid Commerce.

Shopify variations are similar to eBay variations in many ways. Just like with eBay, you need to create parent and child products in Solid Commerce, and assign variation attributes to them. Our article Listing Variations on eBay explains how to create the parent and child products.

 

EXAMPLES: The downloadable template at the bottom of this article contains examples of two variation listings.

To create a variation listing:

1) Create your parent and child products and add them to inventory.

2) In addition to your other Shopify data, provide the following variation information.

Variation Fields	Field Descriptions and Valid Values
mystore parent sku	The Parent SKU ties the all of the variation items together into one listing. Assign the Parent SKU to every item in the variation.
mystore options template	Enter the names of the Product Attributes you're including as options on your variation listing. Separate each attribute name by a double colon (::). You can include up to three options on one listing. You are only required to enter the option template name for the parent item. However, populating the option template name for your child items too is fine. EXAMPLE: You have a t-shirt that is available in three sizes and two colors. You want to include all the options in one listing. If your Solid Commerce Product Attributes are: Size and Color. Your mystore options template will be: Size::Color. If you want to list the t-shirts as size only variations, with each color listed separately, your mystore options template will simply be: Size.
shopify position (read only)	Shopify doesn't allow this field to be populated through their API. Many Shopify customers have asked for the ability to set the priority of their variation child items via API, but it isn't possible at this time.

Uploading Your Spreadsheet

We recommend including the Shopify Product Attributes with your other Product level fields. That way you can populate them when you create your products. The attached template is set up this way.

To upload the Shopify tab of the file using our Excel Add-In Tool, click the Upload Data button. Check only the Update Marketplace box.

 

To upload the Shopify tab through our web uploader instead, go to the Products menu -> Import Products and Inventory. Check the Import Marketplace box and select MyStore from the Select marketplace drop-down.

 

If you include Shopify Product Attributes (or any other Product Level fields) with your Shopify data, you will need to check both Product and Marketplace during the upload.
