Amazon Repricing: Guide to the "Win the Buy Box" Option

The Win the Buy Box option in the Amazon Pricing Rules prompts us to continuously lower your price until you win the Buy Box.

When using the Win the Buy Box option, you set up the Minimum Price Floor, Maximum Price Ceiling, and No Other Sellers Price the same way you normally do for any other Amazon repricing rule. For more information on these options, see Amazon Repricing: Creating an Automated Repricing Rule.

Benefits of Using the Win the Buy Box Feature

Sellers who focus on winning the Buy Box often beat the Buy Box price by a wide margin to try and win it. This feature allows you to maximize profits by continuously lowering your price in small, predetermined increments until you win the Buy Box.

NOTE:

The price will not drop below your Minimum Price Floor. If you hit your floor price before you win the Buy Box, you will remain at your floor price until the Buy Box price increases above it or you win the Buy Box.

With our Win the Buy Box option, you can choose to initially beat the Buy Box price by a small amount. If that price decrease does not win you the Buy Box, we will continually lower your price by an amount set in a different field until you win the Buy Box.

Once you are holding the Buy Box, we can also raise your price by an amount you specify, once again helping you capture more profit.

Using the Win the Buy Box Options

1) To use the option, select the Automated Repricing – Continuously price to Win the Buy Box according to the rules below radio button.

2) Populate the fields in the Win the Buy Box section that appears according to these specifications:

Field Field Description
If Buy Box price changes, beat the Buy Box price by

If you are not holding the Buy Box, and the Buy Box price changes, we will beat the Buy Box price by this amount.

This is also the amount we will beat the Buy Box price by when you first list your item.

You can choose to beat the Buy Box price by a fixed dollar amount, such as $0.6, or a percentage, such as 1.3%.

If Buy Box price has not changed, continue to reduce my current price by

If you did not win the Buy Box following the initial price adjustment, we will continuously lower your price by the amount in this field until you win the Buy Box, or hit your Minimum Price Floor.

By continuously, we mean that we will lower your price by this amount each time we run the repricer on the item. The repricer cycle time varies depending on how many active listings you have. The more listings you have, the longer the cycle takes. If you have 1,000 products or less, the cycle runs through all of them roughly every 15 minutes (Amazon imposes limitations on the number of items repriced per minute as a safeguard).

You can choose to beat the Buy Box price by a fixed dollar amount, such as $0.02, or a percentage, such as 0.05%.

3) Populate the fields in the Maximize Your Profit When in the Buy Box section according to these specifications:

Field Field Description
Start increasing my price in increments of x until I get to y below my group lowest price

Start increasing my price in increments of: In order to help you capture more profit once you are holding the Buy Box, we will continuously raise your price each sync cycle by this amount.

If you don't want your price to change once you are holding the Buy Box, enter 0 (zero) in this field.

You can choose to continuously raise your price by a fixed dollar amount, such as $0.05, or a percentage, such as 0.1%.

until I get to y below my group lowest price: We will stop raising your price when the gap between you and the next lowest priced seller in your group equals the amount in this field.

Enter a value of 0 (zero) to match.

Amazon creates groups of similar sellers on each listing. When we raise your price, we only consider the next lowest price in the group you are assigned to. See the article Amazon's Price Groups Explained for more information.

You can choose to beat the next lowest priced seller by a fixed dollar amount, such as $0.75, or a percentage, such as 1.5%.

4) Save your rule.
