What Is the Image Ripping Tool?

The Image Ripping Tool downloads all of the Main Images from items in your Solid Commerce Market Lists. It saves them in a folder on your computer so that you can use or rehost them. It can also automatically rename the image files during download.

NOTE: The Image Ripping Tool doesn't download alternate images.

The tool is part of the SolidShip install. If you haven't installed SolidShip yet, please see Installing the SolidShip Shipping Tool.

Using the Image Ripping Tool

1) Open SolidShip.

2) Click the Launch Image Ripping Tool button.

6) If you want to automatically rename the images, check the Enable custom name box.

  • Your image names can include one or more of the following fields: Product Custom SKU {SKU}, Model Number {MODEL}, and {MANUFACTURER}.
    • EXAMPLE 1: If your images are jpegs, and you want them named after your SKUs, in the empty field enter: {SKU}.jpg.
    • EXAMPLE 2: If your images are jpegs, and you want the names to begin with your SKU, followed by a hyphen and the Model Number, enter: {SKU}-{MODEL}.jpg.

Options for Rehosting Your Images

If you would like to rehost your images, you have two options:

  1. Your webstore
  2. An FTP site

For the pros and cons of each option, see Image Requirements, Hosting Options, and Naming Best Practices.

Uploading Your New Image URLs to Solid Commerce

If you rehost your images, the fastest way to provide Solid Commerce with your new image URLs is to use a spreadsheet.

1) We recommend retrieving your current information and image URLs by using the Solid Commerce Excel Add-In Tool.

2) If you chose to rename your images, you can use a CONCATENATE formula to automatically create the new URLs.

3) If you chose to keep your original image names, you should be able to replace the beginning of the old URLs with the new URLs. The Find and Replace feature in Excel can make this task fast and easy.

4) When you upload your file, check only Update Product during the upload.
