Two Pre-Fill Options for Adding Item Specifics

The first step in providing item specifics to eBay is choosing a Pre-Fill option.

You can select your Pre-Fill option in the Basic Listing Information section of your eBay Listing Template. For more info about creating templates, see New UI - Creating an eBay Listing Template.

The Pre-Fill Options:

Pre-Fill Required: Select this option if you want to use product information from eBay's catalog on your listing. If your product is available in eBay's catalog, the item specifics from the catalog will automatically appear on your listing. Images from the catalog may also be added to your listing if you don't have images in Solid Commerce. For eBay Motors listings, fitment information will be added as well.

NOTE:

If we don't find your product in eBay's catalog, we won't submit it for listing.

    • You must provide one of the following product identifiers so we can search eBay's catalog: Ebay PID, ISBN, ASIN, or UPC.
    • If you don't have any of the above product identifiers for your product, you may select the Use MPN check box in your eBay Listing Template. We will search by the Manufacturer and Model Number saved to your product instead.

Pre-Fill Optional: This is the more commonly selected option. With it, we still search eBay's catalog to see if we can automatically provide information on your listing. The major difference from the Pre-Fill Required option is that we will list your item even if we don't find it in eBay's catalog.

NOTE:

You can select which item specifics you want to include on your listings, just make sure to select any that are required. You can verify which item specifics are required for your category directly in your eBay account.

Once you have selected your Pre-Fill option, click the Save Changes button at the top of your template.

How to Map Solid Commerce Attributes to eBay Item Specifics

1) Select an eBay Category in the combo box.

  • You are free to use any category you like. If you are using a category on the SETTING VALUES tab of your eBay Listing Template, this category doesn't need to match.
  • In fact, you don't need to enter a category at all. We'll show you how to enter your own custom attributes in the next section, Adding Custom Attributes as Item Specifics.

2) Check the USE/DON'T USE box for any item specifics you may want to submit to eBay.

  • Item specifics will only appear on your eBay listings if you provide a value in the corresponding Solid Commerce attribute.

EXAMPLE: You list guitars and map Solid Commerce's Model Number field to eBay's MPN item specific. You also list t-shirts using the same eBay Listing Template. Because you don't populate the Model Number field on your t-shirts, we don't provide the MPN item specific to eBay when you list tees.

3) In the MATCH TO SC ATTRIBUTE drop-down, select the Solid Commerce attribute that corresponds to each item specific you're using.

  • Instead of mapping the item specific to a field in Solid Commerce, you can enter a DEFAULT VALUE to use on every listing. See the Adding Default Item Specific Values section below for a description.
  • You can also map eBay item specifics to custom fields you create in Solid Commerce, such as color, material, and so on.

For information on creating custom product attributes in Solid Commerce, see Creating and Using Custom Product Attributes.

4) If you want to add item specifics from other categories, select a different eBay Category from the combo box.

Any unchecked item specifics that don't apply to the new category will disappear from the list.

5) When you're finished, click the SAVE button in the action bar.

Adding Custom Attributes as Item Specifics

You are not restricted to adding item specifics from eBay's list. You can add your own.

1) Click the + button on the lower right-hand side.

2) In the EBAY NAME field, enter the title of the item specific as you would like it to appear on eBay.

3) In the MATCH TO SC ATTRIBUTE drop-down menu, select the attribute that corresponds to your item specific. Or, enter a DEFAULT VALUE.

4) Check the USE/DON'T USE box.

5) Click the SAVE button in the action bar.

Adding Default Item Specific Values

If you have an item specific that should be populated with the same value on every listing, you can enter that value in the DEFAULT VALUE field. You will also want to leave the MATCH TO SC ATTRIBUTE field set to Do Not Match.

EXAMPLE: You sell t-shirts, but never stock big and tall sizes. For your Size Type item specific, you can set the DEFAULT VALUE to Regular.

Populating Your Item Specifics

The value you provide in Solid Commerce for the attributes used in your mapping will be pushed to eBay as the item specific.

EXAMPLE: You save Calvin Klein as the Manufacturer of your product in Solid Commerce. For the Brand item specific, you select Manufacturer in the MATCH TO SC ATTRIBUTE drop-down on the EBAY ITEM SPECIFICS MAPPING tab of your template. When you list your item, we will send Calvin Klein as the Brand for your listing.
