This guide covers setting up your Rakuten marketplace, adding yourself to existing listings, and creating New SKU listings.
What we'll cover:
- Connecting to Rakuten
- Importing Active Listings
- Listing Products That Are Already in the Rakuten Catalog
- Creating New SKU Listings on Rakuten
Connecting to Rakuten
To connect to Rakuten, you must request your FTP credentials. The article below contains a message you can copy and email to Rakuten. Once you have your FTP credentials, connecting is easy.
If you have not yet imported live listings from another marketplace, we recommend consulting with your Implementation Manager before connecting to Rakuten.
TASK 1: Email Rakuten to request your FTP credentials. (approx. 5 mins)
TASK 2: Connect to Rakuten. (approx. 5 mins)
Importing Active Listings
Rakuten doesn't offer us the ability to automatically import listings. To import your active listings, you will export them from your Rakuten admin panel and import them into Solid Commerce.
TASK 3: If you have live listings, import them into Solid Commerce. (approx. 15 mins)
Listing Products That Are Already in the Rakuten Catalog
Listing an item that already exists in Rakuten's catalog is easy. All you need is a UPC, ISBN, or Rakuten SKU.
TASK 4: If applicable, add one of your products to an existing Rakuten listing. (approx. 5 mins)
Creating New SKU Listings on Rakuten
Listing products that don't exist in Rakuten's catalog through Solid Commerce offers some advantages over listing directly through Rakuten. The top two are:
- You only need to submit one file to Solid Commerce, instead of the two files you would submit to Rakuten.
- Rakuten will not manually review your initial New SKU listings if they come from Solid Commerce, which will save you time.
TASK 5: If applicable, create a New SKU listing on Rakuten through Solid Commerce. (approx. 10 mins)
