Three Options for Listing Products in a Volusion Webstore

You have three options when listing to Volusion:

  1. Through Solid Commerce Using a Spreadsheet
  2. Through Volusion’s User Interface
  3. Importing a CSV Into Your Volusion Manage Store Panel

Before making a decision on which option will work best for you, you should get familiar with Volusion’s system by listing some items manually.

Here are the pros and cons for each listing option:

Listing Through Solid Commerce Using a Spreadsheet

PROS

  • Integrates Volusion into your Solid Commerce Excel file and work flow.
  • Your quantities are already stored in Solid Commerce.

CONS

  • Solid Commerce supports most, but not all, Volusion fields.
  • Manually adding photos inside Volusion is the easiest way to get your images to display properly.
    • As an alternative, you can use Volusion’s Thumbnail generator to upload images to Volusion’s FTP. They will display properly. This option only works with the Main Image, not additional images.
  • Variation style listings cannot be created because the Inventory Control Grid cannot be populated through a spreadsheet.

Listing Through Volusion’s User Interface

PROS

  • You can copy an existing product so you only need to update a few fields.
  • You can upload your images while creating the listing.
  • You can assign your child SKUs into the Inventory Control Grid for variation listings.

CONS

  • This approach can be more time consuming, especially if you have all your information in Excel for Solid Commerce and your other markets.

Importing a CSV Into Your Volusion Manage Store Panel

PROS

  • Supports some of the fields Solid Commerce does not.

CONS

  • Manually adding photos inside Volusion is the easiest way to get your images to display properly.
    • As an alternative, you can use Volusion’s Thumbnail generator to upload images to Volusion’s FTP. They will display properly. This option only works with the Main Image, not additional images.
  • Variation style listings cannot be created because the Inventory Control Grid cannot be populated through a spreadsheet.
