Deleting or Tagging Batches of Products Using Product Attributes

Overview

Using a custom Product Attribute to tag specific items can be a great way to make them easy to find in your Solid Commerce Warehouses or Market Lists.  This technique is especially useful when you have a list of items you want to update, close, or delete.

Tagging Your Items

In Solid Commerce:

  1. Add a new Custom Product Attribute to your Solid Commerce account, such as Delete or Close-Listings.

In Excel:

  1. You can use a very simple Excel file to tag your items. You only need three columns: Results, Product Custom SKUProduct Attribute:<New Custom Attribute Name>
    • EXAMPLE: The column header for a Product Attribute named Delete would be: Product Attribute:Delete
    • The column header for your new Product Attribute will be: Product Attribute:<New Custom Attribute Name>
    • Add any SKUs you want to tag.
    • Put: Yes in the Product Attribute field for all of the items you want to tag.
  2. You can also work from an existing Excel file if you prefer that to creating a new Excel file.
    • EXAMPLE: The column header for a Product Attribute named Delete would be: Product Attribute:Delete
    • Add a column to your file for your new Product Attribute.
    • The column header for your new Product Attribute will be: Product Attribute:<New Custom Attribute Name>
    • Add SKUs to your file if you don't have them in it already.
    • Put: Yes in the Product Attribute field for any items you want to tag.
  3. Select the Excel Add-In menu ->> Click the "Update Inventory" button.
    • Check only the "Products" box for the upload.

Finding Your Items in Solid Commerce

  1. After your upload, the products from your file will have a tag so you can easily find them in any Market List, Warehouse, or the Products Manager.
  2. In Solid Commerce ->> Select the Market List or Warehouse you want to search to find your newly tagged items by navigating to Products menu -> Inventory Manager.
    • If you want to find them in the Products Manager, navigate to Products menu -> Products Manager.
  3. Click the 'More Search Options' button.

  4. Use the "Select All" options to check mark all of the items.
  5. You are ready to perform actions on your items.

A Note On Maintenance

We recommend deleting your new custom attribute after you have finished performing actions to your tagged items.  That way you can get a fresh start if you ever need to go through this same process with a different batch of items.
