If you are using the original version of the eBay Listing Templates, here are the best options for updating your HTML template.
IMPORTANT
When updating listings that imported into Solid Commerce from eBay, you will need to update your eBay Descriptions.
When you create new listings through Solid Commerce, the eBay Description field is used for a short product description.
When external systems import eBay listings, eBay provides all of the HTML in the description field. There is no way to extract the product description text from the rest of the HTML.
That means that when you want to update imported listings through Solid Commerce, you need to overwrite the imported HTML with simplified product descriptions. For recommendations on the best ways to extract your product descriptions, see Removing HTML from Imported eBay Descriptions.

Finding and Removing Active Content
Not every seller has active content in their eBay Descriptions. If you aren't sure if do, we have an article with tools for finding active content, eBay Disabling Active Content - Meeting Their New Requirements.
The article also recommends some ways to have active content removed from your eBay HTML template if you have it. Removing the active content is the first step in updating your listings and Solid Commerce eBay Listing Templates.
Using a Single eBay Listing Template to Update Your Listings
If you only have one eBay Listing Template in Solid Commerce it's easy to update it with your new HTML.
1) Go to the MARKETPLACES menu -> eBay Listing Templates.
2) Click on the name of the template.
3) Expand the eBay Listing Details section.
4) Delete all of the old HTML code and paste in your new code.
5) Click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
6) Reapply the template through Excel.

- Make sure all your eBay related columns are in the file, such as: eBay BIN and/or Start Bid, eBay Categories, eBay Store Categories, etc.
7) Select one of your live listings and click the Update Listings button.
- If your test update looks good on eBay, select all of your listings and update them.
Using Excel to Update Your HTML Template
The ebay listing description field in Excel provides you with a way to apply your new HTML to your items without updating or reapplying any eBay Listing Templates.
NOTE:
Excel limits the total number of characters you can enter in a single cell to 32,767. Any HTML or text with more than 32,767 characters cannot be added to Excel.
1) Download the Update eBay Description Template.xlsx Excel file that we've attached to this article.
2) Export or retrieve all of your items into the update file.
- To export: Go to your eBay Market List. Click Search to find all items. Click the Export Products button. Ensure the SKU option is selected in the pop-up and click EXPORT DATA.
- To add your exported items into the "Update eBay Description Template.xlsx" file, open the export. Copy the SKUs from the export file and paste them into the product custom sku field in the template. Copy the List Item SKUs and paste them into the warehouse id field.
- To retrieve all items into Excel: Use the Retrieve Data button in the Excel Add-In Tool. For more info, see Retrieving With the Excel Tool - Quick Guide.
3) Add a column with the header ebay listing description to the update file.
4) Paste your new HTML template into the ebay listing description field.
5) Click on the Upload Data button in the Excel Add-In Tool and check only the Upload Marketplace box.
6) Select one of your live listings and click the Update Listings button.
- If your test update looks good on eBay, select all of your listings and update them.
7) To ensure future listings post correctly, add your new HTML to any other eBay Listing Templates that have the HTML Template field selected.
Updating and Reapplying All eBay Listing Templates
This is the process to follow if you use multiple eBay Listing Templates. It is the same as the process for updating listings using a single eBay Listing Template, except there's a twist to reapplying the templates through Excel.
1) Go to the MARKETPLACES menu -> eBay Listing Templates.
2) Click on the name of the template.
3) Expand the eBay Listing Details section.
4) Delete all of the old HTML code and paste in your new code.
5) Click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
6) Repeat Steps 1-5 for each template.
7) Reapply the templates through Excel.
- To prevent accidentally overwriting any of this custom info, we recommend reviewing Revising an eBay Listing Template and Updating Live Listings.
- Make sure all your eBay related columns are in the file, such as: eBay BIN and/or Start Bid, eBay Categories, eBay Store Categories, etc.
- Use the column last apply template name to reapply the same templates.
8) Select one of your live listings and click the Update Listings button.
- If your test update looks good on eBay, select all of your listings and update them.
Automatically Populating Information Into Your HTML
